the four americans returning home, four americans killed in the attacks in benghazi, libya, returning home earlier today at andrews air force base. ♪ that this was a very complex attack involving more tars, rocket propelled grenades and small arms fire and that these militants did breach the outer perimeter of the base. now, this is down in helmand provnt. the largest marine base in afghanistan. we're confirming now that two u.s. marines have been killed, several more service members have been injured in this attack. also, we can tell you that prince harry, the royals prince harry, when he redeployed to afghanistan last week, he is now based at this base. again, the british control one side. the american control the other. we're told prince harry is not in any danger. he is there to fly british attack helicopters, the apaches. >> there were also effigies of president obama burned in afghanistan today and we've seen things like that in other places like egypt. were the attacks at the base and helmand province related? >> we asked the headquarters there in afghanistan and t

in benghazi returned to the andrews air force base this afternoon. president obama was there and he vowed to bring justice to the men who killed them. >> even as voices of suspicious and mistrust that seek to devid countries and cultures, the united states of america will never retreat from the world. >> four people have been arrested in libya what were on the scene of the attack, but the government says they are not linked to the murders. that investigation continues and we have a live report on that now. arwa damon is with me from benghazi tonight and i know you had a chance to go to the consulate there. what did you see? >> reporter: it was really quite chilling, horrifying to be walking through some of the buildings there just imagining what had transpired, taken place. they were all burnt. there was black soot covering the walls. ashes over some of the furniture, the chandeliers. there was debris all over the floor. looters also had moved in after the attack took place pillaging this compound that even after the assault was not really secured but one would have anticipated it to be s

a blackened ruin was a pleasant compound in an upscale benghazi neighborhood. libyan officials say tuesday night's attack was planned by islamist militants. and quickly overwhelmed the libyan and american guards. the compound's first line of defense, easily breached. according to one of the libyan guards who was stationed at the gate, armed with only a radio, the assault happened simultaneously from three different directions. he says that he initily hard chanting, growing louder and louder, and then suddenly, the gunfire, the rocket-propelled grenades, and machine gun fire attacking the compound. he is so terrified from retaliation he refuses to appear on camera. he says at one point the masked men came over and threatened him at gunpoint. he only survived because he was led away. a rocket-propelled grenade took out the power and set the main residence on fire. here, the bedroom where u.s. ambassador chris stevens stayed, part of a small suite. we are told this is where the ambassador, after being separated from his guards in the chaos, smoke and darkness died of smoke inhalation. what we

on diplomatic and western targets in benghazi leading up to the murder of chris stevens. molly henneberg live at the white house with more. the state department is warning americans now about travel in the wake of all of this unrest. what can you tell us about the alert? >> hi. leeland mentioned it. this is breaking in the past hour. the state department warning americans about travel to a couple of places telling americans to get out of a couple of hot spots because of demonstrations in and around u.s. embassies. let's go first to tunisia. the state department saying do not go there. warning against all travel to tunisia at this time. this after ordering all nonemergency embassy staff out of the country yesterday. the state department says americans should get out on a commercial flight and leave the country. yesterday protesters scaled the walls of the embassy compound, damaged building, cars, set fire to a gym and an american school. thankfully all personnel are safe and accounted for. let's go to sudan. ed state department ordered all nonemergency personnel and all family members of staff
